World Trenchless Day, celebrated on the fourth Thursday of September each year, unites the entire trenchless industry — manufacturers, contractors, engineering firms, associations, public works and publications — to share the world of trenchless technology, reaching out to those who have not yet realized the impact that trenchless methods have on their communities. Source One Environmental (S1E), headquartered in Davison, Michigan, used the day to not only promote the industry but to give back to the community. S1E's headquarters are about 10 miles from Flint, Michigan, the epicenter of the clean water and infrastructure funding crisis in the United States. To support local efforts, S1E pledged to donate a portion of proceeds of all sales on World Trenchless Day to the United Way of Genesee County. According to the Flint Cares website, on April 7, 2018, following the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality release of water quality data, the State of Michigan announced the discontinued resource of bottled water for Flint residents. Bottled water, supplied with state fund, is no longer available. At this point any bottled water coming into the community is from donations only. There is no consistent source for bottled water in Flint. Because of its World Trenchless Day efforts, the company was able to donate two pallets (120 cases) of water to the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan, which is where the local United Way office directed S1E. LMK Technologies once again celebrated World Trenchless Day with a company-wide appreciation event that included doughnuts and a presentation by Rick Gage, vice president of sales, LMK Technologies, discussing how impactful LMK's trenchless solutions are, and the effects that trenchless methods have on communities, the economy and quality of life. Gage is also a board member of the World Trenchless Day Foundation. Internally, at Trenchless Technology world headquarters in Brecksville, Ohio, we announced our 2018 Trenchless Technology Project of the Year winners following the Avanti- I N T H E N E W S Celebrating the Trenchless Industry
