Fear not, we have four information-packed issues in the works for 2019. Based on the burgeoning trenchless industry in Canada – and outstanding support from the industry – we're growing the magazine to enhance our editorial offerings. Speaking of the flourishing trenchless industry in Canada, I am excited to say that Benjamin Media Inc., our publisher, is partnering with the leading North American trenchless organizations to manage not one, but two, trenchless conferences in Canada in 2019. First, in May we will once again team with the Centre for Advancement of Trenchless Technologies (CATT) and the North American Society for Trenchless Technology British Columbia (NASTT-BC) chapter on the 2019 Trenchless Technology Road Show. Taking place May 6-8 in Richmond, British Columbia, this will be the third West Coast show and marks a move to the springtime for the show, whose first two iterations were held in the fall. Other than the move, everything will remain from our previous Trenchless Technology Road Shows – a focus on providing a platform to educate municipal, engineering and contractor personnel on the benefits of trenchless methods. As you are reading this, the planning committee is reviewing the submitted abstracts and an agenda for the show will be announced at the beginning of the year. The show will include one full day of pre-courses and two full days of technical presentations and exhibits bringing you the latest advancements in trenchless technology. For more information on this show, visit . In the fall, Benjamin Media, in con- junction with the NASTT Northwest Chapter (NASTT-NW) will host the inaugural No-Dig North Show, a trenchless conference and trade show in Calgary at the Telus Convention Centre Oct. 28-30. The show is the stepping stone to a yearly No-Dig North Show in Canada. We are in the preliminary stages of planning this event, and information will be available at . WO R L D T R E N C H L E S S DAY While the trenchless industry across Canada is growing, there is still a con- tingent of people who are unaware of, or hesitant to try, trenchless technolo- gies vs. a traditional open-cut project. Three years ago, during a Trenchless Technology team brainstorming ses- sion, we pondered the idea of creating a day to celebrate trenchless technol- ogies. Why not? There are days for ice cream flavours, dog breeds and just about everything under the sun. Heck, I am pretty sure someone has created Just About Everything Under the Sun Day, as well, but I digress. From that brainstorming session the concept of World Trenchless Day was born. Celebrated on the fourth Thursday of September each year, World Trenchless Day is a global celebration of all that is trenchless. Much like the aforemen- tioned conferences, World Trenchless Day shines a spotlight on all of trench- less technology's benefits — safety, economics, environmental and social. For our 2018 celebration on Sept. 27, we created the Go Trenchless poster, which you can see at the left, featuring our publisher and founder Bernie Krzys. People loved this idea, so we updated it with the 2019 date — Sept. 26, 2019 — and added to our website as a free download in 11x17 and 8x10 sizes. The poster, and more information about World Trenchless Day 2018, can be found at world-trenchless-day-2018-recap . YO U R S TO RY I N T R E N C H L E S S T EC H N O LO GY C A N A DA One of the highlights of working on Trenchless Technology Canada is talking to the boots on the ground in the trenchless industry, hearing their stories, how they have grown their companies, how they embrace innovation and their concerns about the industry. Whether you are a distributor, contractor, engineer or manu- facturer, my door (well in this case email inbox) is always open. Feel free to reach out to me with news and story ideas or other ways in which we can improve the magazine to better suit your needs. Cheers!
