NASSCO News 2470 Longstone Lane, Suite M, Marriottsville, MD 21104 | Phone: 410.442.PIPE (7473) | Email: info@nassco.org SHEILA'S CORNER PACP VERSION 7.0.4 COMING SOON Having taken the Pipeline Assessment Certification Program (PACP) certification class last spring, I saw first-hand some of the opportunities to make the content and navigation of the PACP manual more consistent and easier to navigate. Working with NASSCO's Infrastructure Assessment Committee, our staff has made a commitment to collect suggested updates and improvements and invite PACP-trained individuals and trainers to submit their suggestions for corrections, updated photos and videos, and anything that would add value to the current version of the PACP manual without compromising the technical integrity of the content. All changes will be vetted by the Committee and a PACP Master Trainer. The anticipated release date for PACP Version 7.0.4 is early February 2019. If you are a PACP trainer or certified individual, please provide us with feedback by visiting nassco.org/pacp- suggestions before November 1, 2018. ^ŚĞŝůĂ:ŽLJŝƐdžĞĐƵƟǀĞŝƌĞĐƚŽƌŽĨE^^K^ŚĞĐĂŶďĞƌĞĂĐŚĞĚ ĂƚĚŝƌĞĐƚŽƌΛŶĂƐƐĐŽŽƌŐE^^KŝƐůŽĐĂƚĞĚĂƚϮϰϳϬ>ŽŶŐƐƚŽŶĞ >ĂŶĞ•^ƵŝƚĞD•DĂƌƌŝŽƩƐǀŝůůĞ•DĂƌLJůĂŶĚϮϭϭϬϰ Sheila Joy For the past several years NASSCO's Annual Conference has included an event called Technical Day during which manufacturers and suppliers would present the latest and greatest in trenchless technologies to an audience of NASSCO members. As NASSCO continues to evolve, we have decided to shift the event to focus on industry opportunities and threats that affect us all while opening up this part of the Annual Conference to NASSCO members and non-members, alike. New in 2019, NASSCO introduces The Exchange – a NASSCO educational event. We believe this new name and brand better define the importance of sharing information between municipalities, contractors, engineers, manufacturers and others aligned to the trenchless technology industry so that everyone involved has the tools and information necessary to keep our underground infrastructure properly assessed, maintained and rehabilitated. Part of the 2019 Annual Conference, which will be held April 9-13 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, The Exchange will focus on a theme of safety – something that is important to all of us. While the agenda is still in the works, we have confirmed presentations by the following: • Trenchless Technology Center (TTC) at Louisiana Tech University: CIPP Emissions Study – Phase 2 • Gainesville, Florida: Criticality analysis using PACP risk-based management • West Palm Beach, Florida: Pressure Pipe integrity programs • Industry Expert Panel Discussion: Job site checklists, cross bore safety, confined space, traffic control, and more In addition to providing an excellent educational experience, NASSCO's Annual Conference provides the opportunity for members to participate in our many dynamic and highly-active committees, network with peers and learn about the many initiatives underway at NASSCO including federal relations, improvements to PACP and ITCP, and important industry initiatives that affect us all. We've done all of the heavy lifting for you, and the process takes just a couple of minutes: 1. Visit nassco.org/get-involved 2. Select the Government Relations drop-down 3. Click the "Take Action" button, provide your personal information, and hit send. Members of Congress rely heavily upon hearing from their constituents when they make important decisions. In fact, a recent survey of Congressional leaders by the Congressional Management Foundation found that if a member of Congress is undecided about an issue, 92% of them are highly influenced by email from constituents; 94% are influenced by constituents more than lobbyists or academic experts; and 91% are influenced about how their decision will impact their district/state when they hear from constituents. What does this mean for us? We need to let our Congressional leaders know how we feel about important infrastructure funding and policies that impact our industry. Take action today at nassco.org/get-involved. HAVE YOUR VOICE HEARD IN D.C.!
